KUKASJARVI SummaryWiking Mineral holds 21.7 percent of the exploration company Havilah Mining. The main asset of the company is the Kukasjärvi deposit, located in Övertorneå in northern Sweden. The Kukasjärvi project comprises an exploration permit including a Ni-deposit which was found and investigated by Boliden with 2 400 m of diamond drilling to a depth of 200 m during the 1970´s. The deposit has been estimated to contain 1.9 Mt with 0.4 % Ni and 0.4 % Cu. The estimation made in 1977 by Boliden is based on 0.4 % Cu+2xNi cut off, excluding waste rock correction. The mineralisation, which appears as sulfide impregnation inside and at the border of an ultramafic intrusion, is open at depth.
The potential to increase the size of the deposit is considered to be good. The geometry and near surface position of the deposit suggset low cost future mining. |
